On any given day, 6.5 million people are bedridden because of back pain. One of the most common is disc problems; injured, bulging, herniated or degenerative discs can create severe low back or leg pain from irritation to roots of the sciatic nerve. Pressure on these injured discs, even from daily activities, can lead to more bulging and irritation.
Doctor Joe and I recently attended the first in a series of conferences on vestibular rehabilitation (treating dizziness, vertigo, & imbalance disorders) by the Carrick Institute, well respected in the field of post graduate chiropractic neurology. The training involves several seminars- including 3 in Atlanta- for a total of 200 hours.
Sally had been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. While chiropractic was helping to relieve her low back pain, she was still having strong muscular aches and fatigue. After attending a seminar on nutrition, I suspected she might be low on Vitamin D and decided to have her take some while I ordered a blood test to check her levels. She was actually feeling better by the time the results came in, and remarked that she hadn’t “felt this good in 10 years.” The pain was gone and her energy had notably improved.
