Breaking Bad Food Habits: Team Health Care Staff Experiences the Many Benefits of Detoxification

I thought I would use my blog post to update you on the status of the detoxification program some of our staff have started.  For those who haven’t been following on our Facebook page, several of us decided to follow through on a New Year’s resolution and undergo a detoxification program.  We decided upon the 21 day program recommended by the nutrition company Standard Process.  This program uses nutritional supplements to aid in removing toxins or “junk” from our bodies by assisting the liver and colon in doing their jobs.  It also involves a diet high in fruits, vegetables and lean meats as well as avoiding junk foods.

Natural Remedies for Migraines: Nothing to Lose But Your Headache

Migraine headaches are the most debilitating condition we see in our practice. Severe, usually one sided headaches render patients out of commission; often resorting to lying in a dark room because they can’t cope. Migraines classically start with an “aura” such as flashing lights, tunnel vision, numbness or tingling. One of our patients was unable to speak during this phase. The headache then begins- severe pounding or throbbing. Sensitivity to light, nausea, and vomiting are common.

Before You Reach for the Pain Reliever, Try Pressure Point Therapy

Very early in my career as a chiropractor I discovered patients had a sincere desire to learn techniques we were using to help them reduce pain. These techniques we generally referred to as “Pressure point Therapy.”  We began demonstrating to patient’s friends and spouses so they could have techniques to provide  pain relief while at home.  Eighteen years ago, we began offering monthly classes so we could demonstrate these techniques to patients and to our community as part of our mission to educate.  We continue to offer Pressure Point Therapy (PPT) class every month to this day.
