Obese kids: Blame your lifestyle, not genetics

The problem of  obesity in the US is well documented . When it is our own children that are obese, it is very easy to make excuses. However, your child is probably not “big boned,”  and it is not “in her fathers genes.”  The scientific evidence, supported by a recent study as well, concludes that it is nearly always lifestyle and behavior that create obesity.

Food for Thought

Two weeks ago I was at an antique store with my 15 year old daughter, Olivia.  This is always interesting because what I remember as if it was yesterday is now to be found in an antique shop.  Anyway, we came across a 6 pack of 8 ounce bottles of Coke.  Olivia thought they were very “cute.”  I told her that that’s the size we had when I was a kid.  We of course teased each other about the difference in our generations, but it got me to thinking about how we are over served in this day and age.
